Attraction Information
Fairbourne Steam Railway travels two and a half miles between Fairbourne and Penrhyn Point where it connects with a ferry which takes passengers across the Afon Mawddach to Barmouth. Some of the trips they allow footplate passengers, who can ride up front throughout with the driver! At the station there's also an extensive model G-Scale Railway which kids and enthusiasts will love to have a look at.
Independent of the Railway, the Barmouth Ferries operate when trains run from Easter onwards so you could potentially add a little jaunt on the water to your transport day out! Take the bus to get there and then all you've got to do for a full house is find some way of getting airborne!
Nearby located near to Beach Halt in Penrhyn Corner Pay-and-Display car park there is a children's playground with regular play equipment ok for kids around 2 to 10. Across the road, behind the Penrhyn Amusements, there is a commercial children's Play Park with bouncy castle, crazy golf, trampolining and mini bumper cars all available on a pay and play basis. So it's a nice little stop on it's own with smalls, or with slightly bigger kids who demand a bit more it's good in conjunction with the amusements and the golf. An easy day!
