Attraction Information
Explore life in the early 20th century with a visit to the Erddig house in Wrexham. It’s a unique place where your curious little historians can learn first-hand about the time of their great-grandparents.
Easter at Erddig
25th March - 7th April
This Easter, join some woodland friends for a giant garden party in Erddig’s picturesque walled garden. Pull on your bunny ears and follow the Easter egg hunt around the garden where ten fun and active play stations are guaranteed to get families hopping, running, skipping and crawling this spring!
Are you as clever as a fox or as mighty as a mouse? Can you leap over the garden hurdles like a sheep or be bold like a badger in a fun game of tug of war? Finish the trail by posing for a family photo at the giant tea party table before collecting your chocolate egg or a vegan and Free From chocolate egg.
If you still have energy to burn then head into the Wolf's Den, a natural play area that spans nearly two acres of wild space. With den building, rope swings, balance beams, and a whole host of other natural play equipment it’s the perfect place to let off steam.
Things To Do
The 17th-century much-loved home offers much to do indoors and outdoors too. It was built by Thomas Webb, a Cheshire mason, for Joshua Edisbury, the high sheriff of Denbighshire. With two-storey wings creating a 'rooms of parade' for John Meller.
Discovery trails throughout the house will keep your kids entertained, while they get to know the daily chores of a servant. From the yucky task of emptying chamber pots to exhausting 14-hour days. Today you explore a family home filled with 18th-century furniture, fine interiors and a collection of portraits and poems from the servant, which is the largest collection of servants' art. You'll discover unique and interesting wallpapers like 18th-century Chinese wallpaper and textiles. As well as oil paintings, photographs and more.
The Garden of Erddig
Then head outside to explore the 1,200-acre landscaped pleasure park and estate of beautiful meadows, ponds, rivers, veteran trees and wonderful woodland! The woodland is home to many many wildlife and a range of habitats, can you find which animals you think live there? The parkland is also open and free to access, so you and the family can discover and embark on a variety of walks. Explore the beautiful parkland as a family, walk down the “cathedral aisle” and take a look from the spectacular viewpoint at the end.
During the cold winter season, you'll be able to spot pleached limes, formal hedges, fruit trees, paths, ponds and more. Like waxcap fungi, holly berries, hazelnuts and wild primroses, all in the 18th-century gardens which are Grade I listed! You can also discover a formal 18th-century walled garden with Dutch influences and features. Dazzling you with its natural beauty, especially with its daffodils in spring and formal hedges.
Food & Drink
Feeling hungry? Indulge in some treats and a range of food and drinks available! Head to Hayloft restaurant for hot foods, fresh salads, sandwiches and fresh bakes! The kids can pick their own lunch boxes filled with healthy and delicious snacks.
