Ellis Mill is a great place to explore with the kids, as you climb the stairs and discover how it works. You can go all the way to the top and check out the amazing views, so make sure you bring a camera.
The knowledgeable guide will tell you about how the mill works, about its restoration during the late 1970s, and how it ground its first flour for 40 years during 1981! Discover how it almost didn't survive a fire, and how the restoration took over 3 years to complete.
The guides are all volunteers who are devoted to the mill and love to tell interesting facts about it and the surrounding area. They will be happy to answer any questions that the kids may have about this historic place, which is the only mill remaining out of the 9 that used to grace Lincoln Edge.
The mill still works today and if it is windy enough when you visit, you will be able to see it in action and watch flour being made the traditional way.
