Suitable for all ages
Venue type: Outdoor
Dunster Forest is part of the Dunster estate on the edge of Exmoor National Park.
The forest is a great place to explore, with the chance to spot deer, see an Exmoor pony or see some of the farm animals on our working farms, it is perfect for wildlife spotting.
We are good at growing timber, and have managed to grow the tallest tree in England: a 60m tall douglas-fir. To enable people to get close to the tall trees, and to learn more about them we have built the Tall Trees Trail in and amongst them.
Waymarked walking and cycle trails, designed for different abilities, and starting either from Dunster or from our forest car park mean that you can see some of the best bits without getting lost; but for the more adventurous, we also have an orienteering trail to get you to explore the bits of the forest that people don't normally find!
With regular events, adventure play area, picnic areas, downloadable quizes and the chance to make your own fun, there is always something to do: whatever your age, whatever the weather.
