Attraction Information
Dean Castle Country Park offers a fantastic and fun family day out and it is free to visit! The park covers over 200 acres, with something for everyone, including wonderful woodland walks, a 14th century castle, an urban farm, a visitor centre and an adventure playground!
There are a number of scenic paths to allow you to explore this wonderful parkland, with plenty of plants and wildlife to see whatever time of year you visit. Kids and adults alike will love the urban farm, which offers the chance to meet the adorable residents, which include a family of llamas, a fallow deer herd, kune kune pigs, plus old favourites such as Timmy and Pip the donkeys! The Pets Corner also has a selection of animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs and pygmy goats.
The Countryside Ranger Service is on hand to answer any natural history questions you may have, and if the kids want to get more involved, there is the Squirrel Club for primary school aged children, and Junior Rangers for kids aged between 12 and 16 years old. Both clubs meet regularly at the park and offer the chance to take part in a range of fun activities, conservation tasks and events with the Countryside Ranger Team.
Please be aware that the Keep is currently closed for essential maintenance, but a small selection of arms and armoury are on display and accessible as part of one of the free guided tours on offer. Tours will need to be booked in advance at the castle and children under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
