Attraction Information
Cwmcarn Forest offers a decent range of activities and events for all the family, including children's explorer trail, fishing, mountain biking and walking routes for all abilities - all with a stunning sequence of panoramic views on the side!
This previously heavily mined area has been transformed into scenic and peaceful forest where nature has reclaimed the former industrial past with gusto, so it's a got a nice educational edge to it too! It is hard to imagine in it's current lustre that some of the surrounding hillsides here were once slag heaps with nary a tree to be seen!
For Cyclists the Twrch Trail is a bit of a local Mecca: testing climbs, swooping descents and rather demanding technical sections are spread over 15.5km of almost solely single-track riding, plus it's free to use and open year round!
The visitor centre provides a great central place to meet up and find out what you can do in the area that suits your group, plus relax in the Ravens cafe or peruse the wide range of homewares and gifts in the gift shop. There are also 'Glamping' and good old camping options available too if you're going to make the most of your visit. And why not?!
