Suitable for ages: Older Children (9-12) and Teenagers (13-18)

Venue type: Outdoor

Curious About Nottingham gives an enlightening view into what makes this legendary city, home to Robin Hood and Maid Marian, what it is.

Take both walks, or enjoy them separately, if you have the time and energy, and haven't been distracted by too many of our suggestions for things to see and do on the way! Expand your knowledge, be entertained and challenged, and get out in some fresh air exploring! Walks typically take 1 to 2 hours each.

Walk 1: Castle to Market Square

From a famous 12th century Inn you pass caves carved into sandstone rock, before arriving at the entrance to Nottingham's infamous castle. Pass a former hospital and the leafy Playhouse, before descending to the depths of a darkened tunnel. Finally it's out into the bright lights, and the splendour of Market Square!

Market Square to Lace Market

Starting at City Hall this walk quickly makes its way up to the Lace Market district, with its magnificent Victorian buildings. Catch a glimpse of the National Ice Arena, ancient burial grounds, and a former court and gaol where prisoners were hung! End your walk at Weekday Cross, the place of ancient markets.
