Attraction Information
Corrieshalloch Gorge National Nature Reserve is an ancient slot gorge (or box canyon), with a deep tree shrouded chasm that cuts through the Highland wilderness. Corrieshalloch may mean ‘Ugly Hollow' in Gaelic, but it is anything but, with a series of fantastic waterfalls, including the thunderous Falls of Messach, which are 46m (over 150ft) high!
The Falls will look even more amazing when you see it from the jaw dropping platform of a (slightly swaying!) Victorian suspension bridge that offers an exhilarating way to appreciate this wonder of the West Highlands. You will not want to forget your camera for this one! Please ensure that you do not approach the edge of the gorge except where indicated.
Walking is the best way to explore this magnificent gorge, with 2 main trails, the shorter (but steeper) route leads down to the suspension bridge, but there is a more level option that is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and curls around the top of the gorge, and through Strone Wood before looping back to the suspension bridge. Vertigo sufferers may wish to avoid the 25m (82ft) during windy conditions.
