Attraction Information
There are lots of different Bristol Packet Boat Rides to choose from, depending on how long you wish to go for and which additions to the trip you'd like most! The boats are generally open topped, with covered sections.
The City Docks Tour, departing either from the Wapping Wharf ss Great Britain or Packet Pontoon Watershed, is a fun 45 minute jaunt around the Floating Harbour with informed historical commentary. It's great for families as being short even the ones too young to hear the commentary (bad luck, it can be quite amusing!) will enjoy the sights and sensations for that long.
The longer trip to Beese's Tea Gardens includes a one hour stop for refreshments so it's a nice option to break up the journey for the medium ones who get itchy legs sitting still for too long! It has the same departure point options plus Bristol Bridge, and it also features the commentary.
For those who can manage a little longer on the water the Avon Gorge Cruise is one of the most affecting: at 3 hours long it might be beyond smaller kids' tolerance but it's worth it when you sail under Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge, through the stunning Avon Gorge and straight down the Bristol Channel!
Other options include a pub lunch excursion, a 5hr river cruise, cream tea cruise and a longer lunching trip to the Beese's. With options like these just try and find an excuse not to go!
