Kids' holiday fun outdoor

Top Things to do in the Staffordshire School Holidays

Alton Towers Alton Towers Water Park, Alton

If a big day at a theme park sounds like something you and your kids will enjoy, Alton Towers is a must! No adrenaline junkie can resist the temptation of the iconic Oblivion, Nemesis and Rita rides. As for the little ones, there’s a whole CBEEBies land to explore!

Fancy turning your day at Alton Towers into a mega family day out during the Staffordshire school holidays? Visit Alton Towers Waterpark for buckets of splashing fun. There are plenty of awesome rides and slides both for thrill seeker and for your tiny, fun-loving sprogs.

WaterWorld Stoke, Stoke on Trent

Your day of wet and wild fun doesn’t get much bigger, or better than a trip to WaterWorld Stoke! This Staffordshire water park is home to epic rides ranging from toddler slides to the 375 feet of ups and downs on The Nucleus, which means the whole family will have some awesome activities to dive into.

Best thing about WaterWorld Stoke is that you won’t have to wait until the summer to have fun in the water. The park is indoors, making it a great option no matter the weather. That being said, the Lazy River and the Outdoor Pool are seasonal, so you’ve got to come in summer to enjoy them.

Ash End House Children’s Farm, Tamworth

Sometimes we all want to step away from the noise and the crowds of the big parks and enjoy some peace and quiet in the countryside. If this is how you’re feeling, then maybe Ash End House Children’s Farm is the place where you should spend the next Staffordshire school holidays.

This lovely family-owned farm is mostly undercover, so you’re welcome to visit and meet the animals even on a rainy day. Stunning Shire horses, majestic falcons and adorable barn animals are waiting for you to come by and say “Hi”. If you do visit on a sunny day though, there’s also an outdoor play area where the kids can run around and play.

Peak Wildlife Park, Leek

If animals are a firm favourite amongst your kids, then Peak Wildlife Park is your attraction. There you’ll have the chance to meet exotic and even endangered animals face to face in the walkthroughs at the park. From Humboldt penguins to Kirk's Dik-dik, Continental Giant Rabbit and various lemurs- there will be plenty of curious furry creatures to see up-close.

When it comes to play time, the Peak Wildlife Park outdoor play area is sure to excite the little ones - after all it has a sand pit AND a bouncy castle! Caught by a rain shower? There’s also an indoor soft play zone with a giant ball pit to dive into.

National Forest Adventure Farm, Burton upon Trent

National Forest Adventure Farm has so much to offer that it will be nearly impossible to fit it all in a single day. Shetland ponies, donkeys, cows and alpacas are only a few of the animals you can feed in the Outdoor Paddocks. If you’re up for an indoor meet & greet at the Animal Barn, there will be pigs, rabbits, chicks, buggies, chinchilla, plus lambs and goat kids in the Spring.

Want some playtime activities? Have a go at crazy golf, an assault course, splash zone and more outdoors, or go indoors and enjoy the Gigantic Play Barn, which fits even adults. Told you you’ll be struggling to do it all in a day…But on the bright side, you'll have a reason to come back!
