Top Things to do in the Somerset School Holidays

Bath Sports and Leisure Centre, Bath

Have you been to Bath Sports and Leisure Centre lately? After recently undergoing a £10 million renovation, the centre has transformed completely. All its main features, including the 25-metre swimming pool and the leisure pool where all the flumes and play features are, have been refurbished completely.

Lots more new stuff has been added to the centre too, including a 120-station gym, trampoline park, 10-pin bowling and even soft play for the little ones. Plus, there are plenty of fun classes and activities to try, so you should give it a go.

Wookey Hole Caves, Wells

If there’s one attraction in the region which you absolutely have to visit during the Somerset school holidays, that’s Wookey Hole Caves. The cave tours are not only education, but they’re also delivered with just the right amount of humour, so the whole family can have a good time.

The caves are only the beginning! There are over 20 attractions at Wookey Hole Caves , including a 4D cinema and a fairy garden. At the Monster Mill, for example, you can play a family game of crazy golf, get involved in arts & crafts, enjoy soft play and more.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary, Chard

Ferne Animal Sanctuary has been helping animals in need since World War II and is a wonderful place to visit if you’ve got animal lovers at home. The animals change regularly, so you never know what creatures you’ll meet next time: dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, birds, chinchillas or maybe something else...In fact, you can event adopt one of the animals and bring it home with you, if you’re ready to welcome a pet in your family.

Also, there’s a nature trail which leads you through the best parts of the 51-acre sanctuary, so you’ll get to experience the peaceful beauty of the Somerset countryside.

Brean Splash, Burnham-on-Sea

Which part of the Somerset school holidays are you most excited about? If summer is your answer, chances are you’ll love Brean Splash. From May all the way to September, you’re welcome to splash, spray and douse your way through the fun zones at the outdoor Splash Park.

Too cold to swim outside? There are heated pools indoor, featuring a 60-metre water slide and mini waterslides for kids under 14. Who says water fun needs to be reserved for the summer...

Fun City at Brean Leisure Park, Burnham-on-Sea

Well, whatever we say, the biggest park in the South West just has to make it on your list of things to do during the somerset school holidays! Fun City at Brean Leisure Park has over 40 rides and attractions just waiting to be explored.

In 2019, the park is open form 3rd April all the way till 3rd November, so you’ll have the whole plenty of opportunities to visit. One more thing, Fun City hosts awesome firework nights, so if your kids love a good fireworks display, plan a visit on the 27th April, 1st June, or 31st August.
