Top Things to do in the Nottinghamshire School Holidays

Sundown Adventureland, Retford

Have you ever felt like theme parks are only good for big people? If you’ve got school kids in years 1-6, you probably have. Well, at Sundown Adventureland you won’t have to worry about that! This theme park is built especially to make amusement rides accessible to kids aged under 10.

Hop aboard the Jolly Pirate Boat Ride, search for your favourite Sherwood Forest hero on the Robin Hood train ride, take a Tractor Ride, or learn to drive at Monkey Mayhem Driving School - it’s just a portion of the fun activities waiting for your tiny adventurers at Sundown Adventureland.

Robin Hood’s Wheelgate Adventure Park, Farnsfield

Got kids from different ages and want to plan a day out at the theme park? Then Robin Hood’s Wheelgate Adventure Park is probably the best attraction near you to visit during the Nottinghamshire school holidays. Here anyone from your tots to your teens (and even the grown-ups) will find something fun to do. There are 8 adventure zones to explore, plus a water park and even unicorn rides!

Best part is that Wheelgate Adventure Park usually throws awesome parties and special events when school’s out. From cracking Easter fun, to splashing Summer holiday fiesta, to festive Christmas days out - you’re guaranteed entertainment all year long.

Floralands Farm Park, Nottingham

Had enough of the noise of the city? If you’d take the peaceful countryside over the busy theme parks, a day out at Floralands Farm Park might just be the perfect outing for you and the kids next Nottinghamshire school holidays.

The farm is heaven for animal lovers of all ages! Donkeys, pigs, sheep, pygmy goats and alpacas are some of the farm residents you can meet on your day there. Also, you’ll have the chance to get up-close to the animals in the feeding sessions available daily. Oh, and of course, it wouldn’t be a day at the farm without some outdoor fun! At Floralands Farm Park, your kids can have a go on ride-on pedal cars before climbing, swinging and sliding in the play area.

The Lost City Adventure Golf, Nottingham

What about the rain, you ask. It’s true that no matter how much we want it, good weather is never guaranteed. But even if you find yourself on the bad side of British weather during the holidays, don’t be discouraged - there’s plenty of fun to be had indoors, starting with The Lost City Adventure Golf in Nottingham!

Mini golf is fun for anyone, any age - no experience needed (just quite a lot of luck!). At The Lost City, you’ll find 2 equally mystical 18-hole crazy golf courses - Sacred Skull Pass or the Temple Trail. With lots of adventure-inspired obstacles and a healthy serving of friendly competition, the whole family will have a great time.

Water Meadows, Mansfield

Water Meadows Swimming and Fitness Complex is a great place for active families to exercise and have fun together. Whether you’re into working out at the gym, or you enjoy taking classes together - it’s the place to go in Nottinghamshire. However, our all-time favourite feature is the family pool!

The Water Meadows pool is all about letting your hair down and having fun. Some of the cool features include 3 water rides, a wave machine, rapids and water cannon. It’s like having a small water park right at your doorsteps! Swimming classes for all ages and abilities are also available, if you need a little bit of practice to perfect your stroke techniques.
