Making Memories: Cheerz memory boxes
One of the things my mum always told me was that memory making is something I will spend my whole motherhood journey doing. Good memories, not so good memories and amazing memories, but there will be so many that it is super important to try and capture as many as possible. Last year, Reuben was sent home from school with the task to make a memory box over summer and it’s a tradition now in our house to do this for everything!
We have memory boxes for school holidays, family holidays and even big ones for each of the kids that they will have to look back on. It’s super easy to make a memory box, you just need to gather up your memories in a shoe box or small cardboard box. Here are a few of the things we put in our most recent summer holiday memory box which the boys took into school:
- Leaflets from a day out
- Shells from the seaside
- Stones or sea glass
- A list of books we read
- Hand drawn pictures
- Pressed flowers
- And, of course, lots of photos!
One of my favourite ways to fill out the photos for a memory box is to buy a Cheerz box. Cheerz sell really cute boxes with polaroid sized photos in them, you can even add notes to the photos and it can all be done from your phone – which is a massive help to me because it means I can create a photo box from my phone without having to upload and edit images to my desktop – basically anywhere. This year I’m planning to be organised and send my photos to my Cheerz profile as we go along so they are all ready and waiting for the last week of the summer holiday and I can order my box just before the kids go back to school.
While I’m on the topic of Cheerz, I use another one of their products for creating something for Edith who is only 2 years old and learning to talk. The photos that I have taken and are already in my profile because of the memory box we’ve created for school can also be turned into fridge magnets. Not only is this super cute, but it allows us to have something in a permanent place so that every time we pass we can remind Edith of our names and since doing this she is now saying “Reuben”, “Toby” and “Family” much clearer. I love that we can have something like Cheerz photo magnets to help her learn, and it didn’t just stop with us – look at the cute one of the dog too! These start from as little as £10, come in a super cute box and make a very practical, very sweet gift for a baby or toddler who has everything.
