Kids in Museums: Takeover Day 2018
What would your kids do if they were in charge for the day? Whilst at home that may translate to later bedtime and chocolate for breakfast, the fab team at Kids in Museums have put to power to good use, with Takeover Day on 23rd November.
Some 5,000 pupils from schools and nurseries across England will swap the classroom for castles, museums and other heritage sites, taking on the jobs normally done by grown-ups. From toddler curators and teenage tour guides, to primary school press officers, the day is designed to not only inspire the new generation of cultural leaders, but also show organisations the huge value of harnessing the energy and perspectives of young people to drive decision making.
Here’s just some of the museums involved in 2018:
British Museum | Tate St Ives | V&A Museum of Childhood | York Castle Museum | The Deep | Reading Museum | Ipswich Museum | Torre Abbey | Derby Museum & Art Gallery | Beamish Open Air Museum | Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum | Cutty Sark | London Transport Museum | Lapworth Museum of Geology | Kensington Palace | National Football Museum
