The cat’s out of the bag! We’re releasing our top five animal attractions into the wild, from zoos and farms, to aquariums too! You’ll be busy as a bee checking these roar-some days out.

Search for endangered species and safari sights to farmyard favourites and underwater creatures, there’s plenty of animal antics to be found all over the UK. So stop monkeying around and get planning a really wild day out, as DOWTK Loves brings you the best animal attractions:

  1. West Midland Safari Park, West Midlands

The world is your oyster at West Midland Safari Park. Hop into your car and venture through the African Plains, World Asia and Elephant Valley. You’ll get to meet cheetahs, giraffes, zebras and all sorts of fascinating animals. After the safari’s finished, there’s still plenty for you to see: you can take your little one to Boji Giggly park, the Land of Dinosaurs or the Adventure Theme Park.

  2. Piglets Adventure Farm, Yorkshire

We can’t stop oinking about Piglets Adventure Farm. This paradise for pigs has everything a mini-farmer could wish for: a pig playpen, pig racing and even an olympig obstacle course! Make sure to take a ride on the pink barrelled train and to jump for joy on the bouncing pillows. A day out here will have kids as happy as a pig in muck.

  3. Colchester Zoo, Essex

This zoo is the bees knees. Visit Colchester Zoo for a day out with rare animals, family favourites and plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. Kids will love the adventure playground where they can climb to the top of the lion lookout and enjoy a bird's eye view. Make sure you queue up at lunch time, and feed the giraffes and elephants for no extra cost! Some of the animals you’ll meet are red pandas, sloths, Komodo dragons and a pack of wolves! Top tip: why not practice your animal noises together on the journey?

  4. Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Yorkshire

Home to England’s only polar bears, this wildlife park is a must for fans of the white and fluffy creatures. Yorkshire Wildlife Park has almost 400 animals and over 70 species, so you’re likely to spot your little one’s favourite! There are plenty of experiences, big and small, for you to choose from if you’re looking for a hands on encounter. You can meet the meerkats, get close to creepy crawlies or even feed the giraffes.

  5. Blue Planet Aquarium, Cheshire

Who said that land animals have all of the fun? Come to the Blue Planet Aquarium and visit this underwater party with plenty of bubbles. Home to one of the UK’s largest shark populations this aquarium comes with a bite. Check out the Flooded Forest where you’ll meet pesky piranhas and learn about tropical habitats. Did you know that only 4 out of 80 species of piranhas are dangerous to humans?
