Fancy a look at the best days out in the North West? In this year’s Family Favourites Awards over 20,000 real parents in the UK nominated and voted for their favourite UK family attraction. We decided to give the spotlight to the winners. So, without further ado, here’s YOUR chosen list of best places to visit in the North West!

Best FREE Family Day Out in the North West

WINNER: Otterspool Adventure

Otterspool Adventure playground

Otterspool Adventure is a budget-friendly family attraction, located on the beautiful South Liverpool Otterspool Promenade. The colourful wooden playground you see on the picture is completely free to use - if the weather is nice, the kids can spend hours playing outdoors and it won’t cost a thing!

While the kids are running around burning off some energy, you can sit down at the cafe and have a chat with the other parents. Entertained kids and relaxed parents... We can see why Otterspool Adventure was picked as one of the best places to visit in the North West!

Best Event at an Attraction in the North West

WINNER: Wild Worlds at Chester Zoo

Wild Worlds at Chester Zoo

Here’s a throwback to the the summer - Wild Worlds ran at Chester Zoo from May all the way to the end of September. According to the vote of the public, if you’ve had the chance to visit during this period, you’ve experienced one of the best days out in the North West.

As part of the event, local artists created mini wild worlds throughout the most popular areas of the zoo. From a multi-sensory plants safari, to an educational walk down Insects Avenue, and even the chance to find out how science and rap go together - Wild Worlds was an epic festival we want to see come back again!

Best Day Out for Under 5s in the North West

WINNER: LEGOLAND Discovery Centre

Kid at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester

When it comes to fun for the tots, it just doesn’t get any better than LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester. For starters, kids just love LEGO. Then, the entire attraction is designed especially for kids aged between 3-10. With 3 rides, 10 LEGO build & play zones, a 4D cinema & much more on offer, there’s no way your tiny sprogs will run out of things to do!

We must say that the best bit for under-5s is DUPLO Farm. There your little ones can play with bigger bricks for easier building, explore the farmer's house, go down the slide and have their photo taken with a cow.

Best Animal Day Out in the North West

WINNER: Knowsley Safari Park

Knowsley Safari Park drive and rhino

Speaking of best days out in the North West, we just can’t skip over Knowsley Safari Park! Getting up-close and personal with rhinos, tigers, lions and many other exotic animals will get any animal lover excited. With 5 miles to discover, this is the longest safari drive in the UK, which is why Knowsley Safari Parks is also one of the top safari parks in the country.

Don’t feel like driving your own car through the park? Hop on the Baboon Bus (weekends & school holidays only) and enjoy the safari without the stress. It’s a perfect activity to do with the kids because you won’t have to worry about driving, just spotting animals with your little explorers.

Best Educational Day Out in the North West

WINNER: Otterspool Adventure

Kids having fun at Otterspool Adventure

Otterspool Adventure has won an award in a second category. Sounds like parents really think this is one of the best days out in the North West!

A tip from us: if you’re planning on getting the kids on some of the paid attractions (including bouncy pillows, mini quad bikes racing and a magical maze) get yourself and Adventure Pass. It works out much cheaper!

Best Active Day Out in the North West

WINNER: Treetop Trek Manchester

Min Trek at Treetop Trek Manchester

Parents have chosen Treetop Trek in Manchester as the best active thing to do in the North West and here’s why! Zip lines, swings, balance beams and dozens more fun obstacles await in the treetops. It’s a proper aerial adventure the whole family can experience together.

The great thing about Treetop Trek is that it’s inclusive for the young adventurers. Zip Trek allows kids over 7 to take part, and Mini Trek - over 5. Don’t be fooled tough, the experience is more challenging than it seems, grown-ups will break a sweat too!

So, this is it for our list of the best days out in the North West in 2018. Give them a try and let us know what your kids loved the most!
