A really great adventure playground near you can be the perfect setting for creating precious childhood memories with your kids. The moments when a tree turns into a majestic medieval fort and a sand pit suddenly becomes a beach where a pirate treasure lies buried - those are the kind of days out we love!

So, come along for a roundup of UK’s best outdoor play areas and get ready to climb, slide, run around and explore!

  1. Dalkeith Park, Edinburgh and Lothian

We can’t talk about the UK's most exciting adventure playgrounds near you without bringing up Dalkeith Country Park and the magical Fort Douglas. Featuring secret tunnels, huge treehouses, zip wires and the brand new for 2019, Sky Maze - this outdoor play area will send your kids on a fairytale adventure. What we love about Fort Douglas is that grown-ups are allowed to go on everything; yep - you can still be a knight or a princesses, too!

  2. William's Den, East Yorkshire

You’ll find another awesome outdoor play area where adults and kids can play together at William’s Den. There you and your little adventurers will find a vast wooden play area in stunning nature surroundings, where you can zip across a 50-metre zip wire, get hands-on in the den making area, climb wooden structures or just run around freely. It’s simply the best in children’s outdoor play!

  3. Folly Farm Adventure Park, Pembrokeshire

We often talk about Folly Farm as a great attraction for animal days out and farmyard fun. This time, however, it’s their awesome Pirate Adventure playground that put them on the list. Featuring two life-sized pirate ships, wooden fort and the legendary Black Bart’s Pirate Cove kids’ outdoor play area, with its iconic giant skull-shaped slide - your little buccaneers are in for lots of treasure-hunting shenanigans.
