Attraction Information
Blair Castle, like many Scottish castles, has a long and fascinating history, this one dating back to 1269! The castle is at the centre of stunning historic landscape, most of which was laid out in the 18th century.
Children always get a warm welcome at the castle, and there are plenty of activities throughout the year to entertain families, plus the ‘Castle Detective Challenge' is always available to help kids get the most out of this amazing castle that is packed with antiques and treasures, some of which they will have to hunt down. There is a children's colouring area in the Treasure Room, where kids can get creative, and perhaps draw some of the items they have seen. If you would like to know more about the castle, a number of tours are available, including one of the attic!
The fun doesn't stop when you get outside as you have the beautiful grounds to explore, which feature a peaceful woodland grove, a red deer park, a magnificent walled garden, a ruined kirk, and a whimsical Gothic folly! Keep an eye out for the colourful peacocks that are roaming the grounds, plus highland cattle in the nearby fields, or a native red squirrel in the trees.
The grounds also have a Sculpture Trail to follow, and there is a woodland adventure playground for the kids.
