Does the idea of a warm climate, rich with beautiful flora and fauna appeal to you? That’s exactly what you get at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
This educational charity has four immense glasshouses, each containing a different botanical wonderland for you to wander through. The tropical rainforest is humid and dense in its colours, textures and smells. The subtropical house has palm trees and a giant bird-of-paradise plant.
The Mediterranean house is a burst of colour, akin to a Victorian orangery and the arid house is like stepping foot into a desert or cliff edge where plants cling to life. Around the glasshouses are beautiful gardens, a playground for children and a butterfly house, which is open from May - September.
