Handsome Beeston Castle in Tarporley, Cheshire is also known locally as The Castle Of The Rock. Active families can climb to the top of this impressive crag with incredible views over eight counties, from the Pennines to the Welsh mountains. Because of the steepness of the incline this isn't recommended for wheel or push chair uses.
The Museum covers local data from the Neolithic period to the civil war with rich collections of artefacts and information on such fascinating local legend as the missing treasure of Richard the 2nd...
With over 40 acres of naturalistically maintained woodland trails to explore and an abundance of wildlife Beeston Castle and Woodland Park makes for a truly exhilarating and enchanting day out for all the family. There are picnic benches and grassed areas just as suitable in good weather, so don't forget your hamper in summer, or your wells in winter! There's also a new refreshment kiosk which offers year-round hot and cold snacks and drinks to visitors, near which there are also toilet facilities.

I took my 5 year old twin grandchildren for a day in August during school holidays. It turned out to be a Medieval themed day with lots of free craft and skill activities. It was excellent value for money - we spent virtually the whole day there. The café is really nice with good simple food which is not expensive. The view is spectacular and there is loads of space to safely run around in the fresh air. Memories that I will treasure forever as a great day out with my grandkids.

Had a great walk and some stunning views. Spent lovely half day and had a picnic here. The Hill is steep so either take your time or expect a climb!
