Whether you want to go on a crisp Winter walk or watch the unfolding of Spring, Stowe Gardens is the perfect place to take the kids this February half-term. 

Exploring Stowe Gardens is the gift that keeps on giving with timeless landscapes, lakeside walks, and winding paths, your kids' imaginations will run as wild as their feet. Not to mention all the excellent photo opportunities.

NEW Umbrella Hide and Seek Trail
Get ready for an epic outdoor adventure no matter what the weather on the NEW Umbrella Hide and Seek Trail! Find the multi-coloured and beautifully designed umbrellas hidden around the garden, play your own game of hide and seek, and don’t forget to bring your wellies to make a splash in the puddles.

Parents, don't think for a second that you are excluded from all the fun activities on offer... Let loose, run around and play with the kids all day long. With temples, lakes, wildlife and fun activities to discover, you and your little adventurers will have plenty to keep you busy. After all that action, you’re guaranteed a good night’s sleep!

From bookable weekly activities to monthly Toddler Tuesdays for your tiny sprogs, to the annual Big Camp event - there’s always something fun going on at National Trust Stowe. Plus, free seasonal nature guides are available to help you make the most of your time at the gardens any time of the year.

Food & Drink
Fancy a treat? National Trust Stowe offers a lovely, family-friendly café where you can grab some snacks, enjoy a cuppa and maybe even indulge in something sweet. Sounds like a great day out to us!

There are many accessible facilities on offer at Stowe Landscape Garden such as... 

  • Accessible toilets & baby change facilities 
  • Induction loops are supported in the café, shop and Bell Gate kiosk.
  • The gardens include uneven and hard gravel paths, hoggin and grass pathways, and steep slopes, and are hilly in places.
  • Seating is available at regular intervals along the visitor route. Picnic benches are available in the picnic area to the left of the New Inn. Indoor and outdoor seating is available for the café.
  • You can hire our single or double mini-crossers or manual wheelchair for free; to book please call or email us. You are welcome to bring your own all-terrain vehicle if you have one.
  • Free parking for members and non-members. Plenty of accessible parking is available.

Transport & Parking for Visitors 
On foot
1½ miles from Buckingham, take a stroll up Stowe Avenue for monumental views to arrive at The New Inn.

By train
There are a number of train stations nearby: Bicester North 9 miles; Milton Keynes Central 14 miles. Taxis are available at all stations. Direct connections from London Marylebone and Euston stations both with only a 50 minute journey.

By bus
Stagecoach X5 bus runs from Oxford to Cambridge and stops in Buckingham town, 1.5 miles from Stowe.

The Arriva X60 bus runs from Aylesbury to Milton Keynes, stopping in Buckingham town, 1.5 miles from Stowe. On arrival at Buckingham High Street, walk uphill and on to West Street, continuing on the A422 until you reach a right turn for Stowe Avenue. Follow the 1.5 mile avenue until you reach the New Inn.

1½ miles from Buckingham, take a ride up Stowe Avenue for spectacular views to arrive at The New Inn where you'll find cycle racks located in the middle of the car park on the left next to the visitor path.

By road
3 miles north-west of Buckingham town, just off the A422 Buckingham to Banbury Road. From M40 take exits 9 to 11, from M1 exits 13 or 15a. Stowe is signposted with brown tourist information signs from local routes. Entry to National Trust Stowe Gardens is via Stowe Avenue only. Turn right in front of the Corinthian Arch and approach car park slowly. Check your route before you travel.
