Royal Marines Museum will give kids an excellent insight into the fascinating history of the Royal Marines, since they began as Sea Sailors in 1664.
You can take a walk through history and learn about the lives of some extraordinary Royal Marines. There is the chance to follow the journey of a recruit through training, deployment and creeping through a jungle.
There is a great medal collection (over 8000!), and a World War Two home front kitchen to explore. The personal stories of endurance and battle really bring history to life through a unique collection of documents, pictures and other artefacts.
Family events are held during the Summer holiday, October half term and during the Christmas holiday so check online to see what is available in this ‘Survival' themed year of activities.
There is an area for younger kids with face painting, drawing and a play area to test your skills. This museum is great for all ages and gives you an idea of the role of Marines both historically and today.
