Attraction Information
Every single one of the atmospheric rooms in Raby Castle, from the magnificent Barons' Hall to the Mediaeval Kitchen gives fascinating insights into life throughout the ages and gives kids the chance to let their imaginations run wild! There's as much education available here as you want to wring from it, but it's just as affecting for the smalls to simply explore.
Behind the powerful exterior of towers and fortifications, Raby houses a fantastic art collection and splendid interiors. Plus you can have a look at the horse-drawn carriage collection!
The impressive 200 acre (80ha) deer park surrounding Raby Castle has Red deer, the largest British wild land mammal, and the smaller Fallow deer, both herds containing the desendants of deer preserved in this area since Norman times so a great point for some secret schooling too!
It's worth a look on the run up to Christmas too as they feature a lovely grotto here every year.
Plus the kids can discover the force of nature at High Force, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in England! Raby Castle is situated 20 miles further east at Staindrop. See the listing for Highforce Waterfall!
