Attraction Information

Go overground, underground and simply get grubby at Honister Slate Mine & Via Ferrata.

Your journey begins with a fully guided tour into the mine itself, following a team of experts who know all there is to know about the gloomy depths. They’ll reveal the current workings of the site and how traditional methods are still the best way to extract slate formed some 400 million years ago!

All the way above ground - waaay above ground - is the Via Ferrata, which was traditionally the way workers would travel up and over the steep outer incline on inbuilt ladders. So far, so terrifying! Not to worry though as the route is totally safe so you and your team of mini miners (over 10) can follow the Via Ferrata Classic, tiptoe across the Infiniti Bridge or take on the Via Ferrata Xtreme.
