Looking for exciting things to do in Lincoln? How about taking the family for a walk in the footsteps of kings!
Built in 1068 by William the Conqueror, Lincoln Castle is an impressive, historical adventure. Set in immense grounds, start your exploration walking around the medieval wall, which circles the entire castle. Climb one or all three of the towers and enjoy the far-reaching views from the top, then enter a Victorian prison where children as young as eight were held for crimes ranging from petty theft to murder.
The grounds of the castle come alive with events during the summer, which adds something special to Lincoln family days out. Different theatrical displays go on in the main castle to help bring life from the Victorian era to life, such as learning heritage skills in craft workshops to discovering the worst jobs in Victorian Britain!
If you can brave it, take on the Original Lincoln Ghost Walk that delves into the
spookier history of the area. Costumed guides will lead you through stories that’ll haunt your imagination as they bring the unsettled past into the present! There are other tours to choose from for those who want something a little less spine tinkling!
Time to let off some steam now. Children will love the soft play at Imagination Centre, or have a game of bowling at Lincoln Bowl. If the weather is nice head to Hartsholme Country Park where they can slide, climb and swing until they’re ready to fall asleep in the car on the way home.
