Rushmere Country Park Big green spaces full of scenic footpaths and bridleways, which you can get maps around at the Heron's View Visitor Centre, also home to the Treetops Cafe .
Ufton Fields Nature Reserve This 100 acre site is a wildlife haven with all weather footpaths providing access to varied habitats in every season. The site is noted for its abundance of butterflies, dragonflies, wild flowers and birds.
Barnwell Country Park Park with 3 way marked waterside trails, numerous picnic spots, and a wealth of wildlife and facilities. Children's play area, Visitor Centre and Wildlife Garden, Orienteering packs available, plus a brass rubbing trail. Open all year and free to visit!
Coombe Country Park We have a children's play area, climbing forest, picnic benches and barbecue areas, a bird hide, woodlands, open space for the children to play and of course plenty of ducks and swans to feed!
Brandon Marsh Nature Centre Contains displays and information about the nature reserve, as well as a Tea Room and Shop. Open every day with lots of events and activities for everyone throughout the year and Really Wild Birthday Parties!
Ryton Pools Country Park There's lots of fun to be had at this family friendly country park! With play areas, cycling and walking on surfaced paths and a large picnic meadow you can't go wrong for a family day out! Caludon Castle Park It is a pleasant stretch of open grassland for running and frisbee-ing, with a Children's Playground.
The main feature is an imposing ruin of part of the castle, surrounded on three sides by a moat.
Jephson Gardens Flower filled park containing a sensory garden, an exotic glasshouse, a lake with ducks and swans, and a boating pond. There is also a nearby ship-themed adventure play area (see full details for information).

Dunstable Downs Stunning elevated views and perfectly suited for kite flying make this site popular with families. Rambling, mini beast spotting and picnics are welcome, plus guided walks available. Visitor centre has facilities.
Vale Park A play area for younger kids as well as a 'teen' play area, new tennis courts, a multi-use games area and a bowls green. There is also a skatepark facility, but the park still remains a green and tranquil place close to the town centre.
Abbey Fields Play Park Grassy slopes for rolling and grass sledding, cool adventure playground, heated outdoor swimming pool in summer and indoor for the rest. Yay!
Rutland Water Nature Reserve An internationally famous nature reserve covering 1,000 acres and over 20,000 waterfowl! A variety of habitats to explore and loads of wildlife to look out for, including kingfishers, ospreys, badgers and butterflies. Great calendar of events throughout the year.

Chilterns Gateway Centre The rare chalk downland is home to a huge variety of wildlife. It's a fantastic place for kite flying, walking and views over the vale of Aylesbury.
Charlecote Park For the less boisterous child, this charming house offers many foreign and domestic curios, wonderful portraits and spacious grounds with nature trails with an on site herd of fallow deer roaming about.
Allesley Park Crazy golf, children's play area, 18 hole golf course, and plenty of open space and garden walks: all recently refurbished and well maintained.

College Lake Nature Reserve Get back to nature at this reserve, with over 1000 species recorded, there is always something to see. Wildlife Centre with exhibition, trails to follow and a Bee Centre to investigate.
Bernwood Butterfly Trail Follow an hour and a half way marked trail around the forest, discovering impressively favoured habitats for butterflies throughout the vast areas of mixed woodland. With the birds and other flora and fauna too this is a natural joy you can enjoy for free.
Ashridge Estate Wonderful landscape for walking (and running!), with splendid views and fun interactive games in their Visitor Centre for the kids.
