Yorkshire Wildlife Park
From Wallaby Walkabout to land of the Tigers and a brand new anteater all the kids' furry favourites are here at Yorkshire Wildlife Park!
Come and enjoy over 70 acres of animal encounters, with some walk through sections to get up close and nose to nose with creatures like lemurs and wallabies! A great range of well kept animals and birds including the most endangered carnivore in Africa: the Painted Hunting Dog! Wonderful chance for kids who think they know it all to encounter some animals they've never even heard of!
Very recently Yorkshire Wildlife Park has officially opened both a purpose built giraffe enclosure plus Leopard Heights, the ground-breaking open topped enclosure that will bring you eye to eye with the Amur Leopard, the most endangered carnivore in the world! From the 100 sq m viewing platform visitors come face to face with the leopards as they scale their 10m high climbing frames.
At ground level of the 6000 sq m enclosure there is a viewing area with a 10m long glass wall to complete the spectacular creation, which is the largest leopard enclosure in the world!
Other highlights include the Shadow a Ranger and Junior Ranger experiences! These give kids in a variety of age brackets the chance to see what it's like as a job: this could be the start of their career!
Earlier in the summer holidays, we went to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park - it was expensive, but plenty of wildlife to see, and we were particularly pleased to see lots of information boards about British Wildlife and conservation to try to engage families with nature on our doorstep. The lemur walk was great, and a South American enclosure that both allowed visitors to go in and get closer to some of the animals there.
