Welsh Mountain Zoo
Set in North Wales, high above Colwyn Bay with panoramic views and breathtaking scenery, its beautiful gardens are home to this caring conservation Zoo.
Spend a lovely relaxing day learning about their many rare and endangered species.

Why not visit Sea Lions Rock! This fabulous pool and activity area is the setting for some of the most exciting and intriguing displays you may ever see.
Daily shows include Penguins' Parade, Chimp Encounter, Sea Lion Feeding and Birds of Prey Display (weather permitting, during the summer months).

We do strongly suggest you contact Welsh Mountain Zoo before you set off on your family day out, just to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices, as there is nothing worse than disappointed kids in the back of your car after a long journey.

Opening Times

2016 Opening Details:
Open every day except Christmas day
April through October 9.30am to 6pm. Last admission before 5pm.
November through March 9.30am to 5pm. Last admission before 4pm.

Facilities

"I'm hungry"

The Zoo has catering facilities all year round. The Flagstaff Cafe and Safari Restaurant serve hot and cold food and tea and coffee throughout the day. There is also an ice cream shop and a sweet shop open during the busy periods.

"Can I have one of those?"

We have an extensively stocked shop, "The Trading Post" of the Zoo, with animal related items for sale. You are welcome to pop in and browse through what we have to offer. From soft toys, fancy goods, cards and pottery to t-shirts and pocket money presents.

There is a parent and baby changing facility adjoining the souvenir shop and a disabled toilet below the Flagstaff Cafe.

Directions

"are we there yet?"

Just 3 minutes drive from the A55 Expressway: exit at Rhos-on-Sea interchange (Junction 20), the Zoo is signposted from here. From Bangor 20 mins, Caernarfon 30 mins, Prestatyn 35 mins, Porthmadog 70 mins, Wrexham 50 mins, Chester 50 mins, Liverpool 60 mins, Manchester 70 mins.

...got any top tips?

FREE bus to zoo! From Easter to mid September the zoo's free minibus service will operate a continuous daily service from Colwyn Bay Railway Station. The first trip from the station will start at 10am and will then run on a continuous loop throughout the day. You should not have to wait longer than 20 minutes for the minibus to arrive for collection. The last trip down from the Zoo will be just before 4:45pm.
