"what are we doing today?"

See the world's largest collection of exotic, rare and endangered ducks, geese and swans.

Enjoy the fabulous visitor centre, including the Hanson Discovery Centre with lots of educational have-a-go exhibits, arts and crafts aimed at children. There is also a cinema and amazing views over the River Severn from the Sloane Observation Tower.

Throughout the year a programme of events encourages visitors to get involved with art workshops, birdwatching events, 'work with a warden' days, demonstrations, and Land Rover safaris. A host of family events also take place throughout bank and school holiday periods such as themed trails through the grounds.

There are many play facilities on the site including a ball pit, welly boot land (an outdoor wet playground), soft play area and play equipment with sand pit.

We have a great selection of hides overlooking our reserve including the particularly impressive Holden tower, the family friendly King fisher hide, the zeiss hide and the South Lake observatory. Even if you are not a keen birdwatcher they are worth visiting as they offer stunning views.

"i'm hungry"

Licensed restaurant on site overlooks our colourful flamingos. Delicious selection of hot dishes, sandwiches, children's meals and cakes and scones. Out in the grounds you can grab an ice cream or drink from our kiosks next to welly boot land and the canoe safari. There are also picnic areas and benches throughout the grounds.

healthy food

A range of freshly prepared hot food options, homemade soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts are available in the restaurant. Children's lunchboxes also available. There are also healthy fruit juices. Water is freely available in the restaurant.

"Can I have one of those?"

Make sure you browse our gift shop in the visitor centre, selling a vast range of wildlife themed souvenirs, books, chinaware and children's pocket money gifts. Bestsellers are our birdfeeders, range of wildlife books and welly warmers.

"i need a wee"

Disabled toilets and baby changing facilities are available.

and baby come too...

Baby food is sold in the restaurant and there is a handy microwave in our restaurant for you to heat baby food and milk.

"are we there yet?"

WWT Slimbridge is located between Bristol and Gloucester. Follow the brown duck signs from the M5 (junctions 13 or 14). Nearest railway station is Cam/Dursley ‚– a short bicycle/taxi ride journey away. The Village Link service also offers a pre-bookable bus service from local train and bus stations.

...got any top tips?

You should set aside at least four hours for your visit as there is so much to see and do here. If you have young children who will enjoy splashing around in welly boot land take some waterproofs and/or a change of clothes and towel. Take some binoculars or hire them at reception to see what birds you can see from our hides. Slimbridge is an all-weather, all-year-round attraction, with activities indoors and outdoors.
