About Volks Electric Railway
Opened in 1883,Volk's Electric Railway is the 'world's oldest operating electric railway'. The brainchild of inventor Magnus Volk the railway runs for just over a mile along Brighton seafront between Aquarium (for Brighton Pier) and Black Rock (for the Marina). The Half Way Station stop is close to Peter Pan's Playground and the Peter Pan's Adventure Golf (see our listings for full information).
The railway line along Brighton seafront is open to the public every year between Easter and September. Today the railway can carry up to eighty passengers along the beach for one and a quarter miles.
