Treasure Trails are a fantastic way to explore a new town or village whilst enjoying a fun walk in the fresh air.

The Tynemouth Treasure Trail is just one of 35 routes around the North East while there are hundreds more throughout the UK. Children love competing to solve the clues and don’t even realise they are learning about the area and getting some exercise! The Tynemouth Trail is two and a half miles long while the length of other trails varies between one and three miles.

The answers to the clues are located on existing monuments, buildings and structures: some are easy to find, some are a little bit trickier! The trails are set in different themes so your family could be seeking lost treasure, be super spies or ace detectives.

After you have completed the Trail you can enter your answer online to be in with a chance of winning a cash prize!

There are many restaurants, cafes and pubs along the Tynemouth Trail route giving you lots of choice for eating and drinking. You can take as long as you like to do the Trail.

There are public toilets along the route with baby changing facilities.

Tynemouth Station is well signposted. It is also possible to step off the Metro train and be a few steps away from the first clue on the Trail.

The Tynemouth Trail takes around two and a half hours to complete if you do not stop on the way. One clue is near to Longsands beach so you may wish to combine the trail with time on the beach. The route is suitable for pushchairs. Unfortunately two of the clues on the Tynemouth Trail are not suitable for wheelchairs.
