Attraction Information

Tudor World Museum is an Award-Winning Tudor Museum right in the heart of the beautiful town of Stratford upon Avon within a Grade 2* listed historic building! The history museum offers families a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the vibrant and intriguing era of the Tudors.

The Tudor Experience

Tudor World brings history to life with its interactive exhibits, authentic recreations, and engaging storytelling. Families can explore life in Tudor England, from the grandeur of the royal court to the simplicity of peasant life. The exhibits are not only educational but are designed to be immersive and entertaining for all ages.

Step into Shakespeare's England and experience the good, bad and ugly of Tudor's life. From Tudor pubs to plague and poo, you can also experience how life was for the masses in the sixteenth century! Tudor World is an unusual and small independent museum set within a Tudor property in Stratford upon Avon and is the only museum in the country devoted to the Tudors.

It does not have artefacts or period furniture but instead recreates different areas of Tudor life, interweaved with stories of the building's rich history (on a site that dates back to the birth of the Town in the late 12th century) and the history of Stratford itself. With costumed guides, this interactive experience takes you into the very streets of Tudor times. From spooky stories about the narrow passageways of the ancient house to a fascinating experience through sights and sounds.

Take your place at an Elizabethan dining table, rest in a 4-poster bed and sit on the throne! A family-friendly museum with Shakespeare tours; ghost tours and school visits there is something for everyone! Children find the proximity of the recreation and the ability to walk into exhibits highly stimulating. However, some sensitive children may find the subject of the plague uncomfortable and the realistic figures throughout the museum.

Educational Value

At Tudor World, learning about history is a hands-on experience. The museum provides a wealth of educational activities that are both fun and informative. Kids can participate in interactive workshops, dress up in Tudor costumes, and even try their hand at writing with a quill and ink, just like in Tudor times!

Family-Friendly Activities

Tudor World offers a variety of activities tailored to families, from guided tours, which are both humorous and informative, theatrical performances that bring Tudor characters to life, and ghost tours for the more adventurous families. These activities are designed to engage kids and adults alike, making history accessible and enjoyable.

Exploring Stratford-upon-Avon

Tudor World is located in the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. This adds an extra layer of historical significance to the visit. Families can enjoy the picturesque town, with its Tudor architecture and cultural heritage, making the trip educational and scenic.

Why We Recommend Tudor Museum For Families

Tudor World is not just a museum, it's a journey into the past. With an educational, entertaining, and immersive experience that appeals to both children and adults. For families looking for a day out that combines fun, learning, and a unique historical adventure, Tudor World is an excellent choice.
