Lake District Wildlife Park

By Train

Travelling by train is a great option if you’re coming from further afield. The nearest major train station to the Lake District Wildlife Park is Penrith North Lakes Station, located about 25 miles away.

From Penrith Station: Once you arrive at Penrith North Lakes Station, you can catch the X4 or X5 bus directly from the station to Keswick Bus Station. From Keswick, transfer to the Stagecoach Bus 554 towards Carlisle and alight at the Dubwath stop, then take a short walk to the park.

From Carlisle Station: If you’re coming from Carlisle, you can take a direct train to Penrith North Lakes Station and follow the same bus route. Alternatively, you can catch the Stagecoach Bus 554 directly from Carlisle Bus Station to the Dubwath stop near the park.

By Bus

From Keswick: You can catch the Stagecoach Bus 554 from Keswick Bus Station, heading towards Carlisle. Get off at the Dubwath bus stop on the A66, which is the closest stop to the park. From there, it’s a short 10-minute walk to the park entrance.

From Cockermouth: The Stagecoach Bus 554 also serves the route from Cockermouth. Get off at the same Dubwath stop, and you’ll find the park just a brief walk away.

From Penrith: If you're coming from Penrith, take the X4 or X5 bus to Keswick and then transfer to the 554 bus towards Carlisle.

By Car

From the South (M6 Motorway): Take the M6 North and exit at Junction 40 for Penrith. Follow the A66 West towards Keswick and Cockermouth. After passing Keswick, continue on the A66 for about 10 minutes. Look out for the signs to the Lake District Wildlife Park and turn right onto the B5291 towards Bassenthwaite. The park is well signposted from there.

From the North: Take the M6 South and exit at Junction 44 for Carlisle. Follow the A595 towards Cockermouth, then join the A66 East towards Keswick. Follow the signs to Bassenthwaite and turn left onto the B5291. The park entrance will be clearly marked.
