Our aim at Treasure Trails is to create fun and unique ways for the whole family to get outside and explore.
The Berkhamsted Treasure Trail starts at Berkhamsted Castle, and travels through the quiet streets, parkland and tranquil towpath of The Grand Union Canal.
Include a visit to Berkhamsted Castle, a ruined Norman motte-and-bailey castle, with original fortifications dating back to Saxon times, an ideal location for a picnic!
Approximately 26 miles from London, Berkhamsted is surrounded by open countryside and beautiful English villages, a busy market town with a long and rich history.
The Trail is about 2.5 miles long, and takes around 2 hours to complete. There is a free, well equipped outdoor play area for children half way through the Trail.
There are numerous pubs and cafes providing refreshment on the route.
Treasure Trails are currently seeking sponsors on this Trail. There are there are numerous local shops, cafes and public houses on route supplying refreshments. Berkhamsted castle and local park are ideal locations for a picnic.

This is a walking Trail. We do not operate a souvenir shop on site; however, many other exciting Trails are available to purchase online.

Car parking is pay and display. This Trail is about a two miles and likely to take about two hours. You will enjoy a walk around the area, seeing the sights whilst looking for answers to clues.
There are a number of steps and inclines, making it difficult for wheelchair users, but accessible to pushchairs.

They are stocked by most Tourist Information Centres.
