The Treasures of South Cambridge (part 1 of the Treasures of Cambridge Trilogy) is a great way to learn fascinating facts about Cambridge and to see its best sights.

With so much to see and to do, Cambridge makes a perfect destination for a family day out. The answers to the clues are located on existing monuments and buildings, people of all ages enjoy finding them. Children love competing to solve the clues and don’t even realise they are learning about the area and getting some exercise!

After you have completed the Trail you can enter your answer online for a chance to win a cash prize.

The Treasures of South Cambridge trail starts near a park and playground. The trail offers a gentle walk across Coe Fen, followed by the exploration of the south part of the city. Take this Trail to find out who Hobson was and to learn the connection between the American flag and a Cambridge church. This Trail will bring you to the famous Cambridge museum, its oldest college and church, and the site of an old mill. It finishes by the beautiful river Cam and a nature reserve.

Take the Treasures of Cambridge City (part 2 of the Treasures of Cambridge Trilogy) to explore hidden treasures and famous landmarks of the historic Cambridge. You’ll visit the place where the town of Durolipons (70 AD) used to stand and learn about many famous graduates of Cambridge University. Take the Treasures of North Cambridge (part 3 of the Treasures of Cambridge Trilogy) to visit the most popular green spaces of Cambridge and the river – perfect for a family day out. Consider bringing a picnic along if the day is sunny and warm.

The Treasures of South Cambridge trail is located in the city of Cambridge. For directions and detailed parking information please check our website. Cambridge has excellent rail, road and public transport links. The city is situated on A14/ A11/ M11. It can be reached via its extensive rail links. Nearest parking is at the Lammas Land Recreation Ground Car Park, Newnham Road, Cambridge, CB2 (OS Explorer 209: 446573). There is an additional on-road parking on Newnham Road (A603), next to the park.

...got any top tips?

This is a walking Treasure Hunt Trail. It is approximately 2 miles long and you should allow around 2 hours to complete it. This Trail follows a well-maintained pedestrian and cycle route across Coe Fen to the city centre and its south-western parts. The terrain is flat and there are no hills to negotiate. The ground underfoot is good throughout and is considered suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs and pushchairs. Please check our website for more details on individual trails.
