The White Tower is one of the most important historic buildings in the world. An iconic symbol of London and Britain, it is currently housing 'Power House', a fascinating exhibition about the national institutions founded at the Tower of London.
Be dazzled by the 23,578 gems that make up the Crown Jewels, including the world’s most famous diamonds. You'll find this amazing collection in the Jewel House!
For over 600 years, exotic animals were held captive at the Tower. Discover more about their extraordinary stories and what life was like for them in the Royal Menagerie.
Costumed events also take place on most school holidays and bank holidays throughout the year.
There are also audio guides (at extra cost) and a free children's activity guide.
There is one café inside the Tower, the New Armouries, which sells a variety of sandwiches, snacks and hot meals. Visitors can also bring food with them to eat in outside areas around the Tower, including the infamous Tower moat (during Summer months).
There are healthy options, such as salads, and vegetarian options.
We have a selection of souvenir shops which sell a variety of items, including standard souvenir items such as pencils/keyrings and similar, historic books, and many gift and ornament items.
There are unisex and female only babycare changing facilities. Please ask a member of staff for details.
We don't sell baby food, but can warm milk if requested.
By London Underground Circle/District lines to Tower Hill. Follow directional signage to the main entrance of the Tower. By train Fenchurch Street or London Bridge Station. By Docklands Light Railway (DLR) Tower Gateway Station is located adjacent to Tower Hill station. Follow directional signage to the main entrance of the Tower. By bus Bus routes: 15, 42,78,100, RV1 The Tower is also served by all major sightseeing bus tours. By riverboat From Charing Cross, Westminster or Greenwich to Tower Pier.
Before visiting see www.hrp.org.uk to see when the next costumed events are taking place at the Tower. See the website for access information. Parts of the Tower are not pushchair friendly and many of the surfaces are cobbled. There are several places to leave pushchairs around the Tower, however this is at owner's risk.
