Totnes Rare Breeds is a family-owned attraction is small enough to provide a friendly and personal service, with enough to keep visitors happy all day.
- Feed and fuss the rare breed sheep and goats. - Admire the varied breeds of poultry - Visit the hedgehogs in their hospital - Cuddle the guinea pigs - Marvel at the antics of the red squirrels - Enjoy educational talks on our fantastic wildlife - Get as close as possible to the splendid owls
Here you are within hugging range of all the animals.
Most enclosures can be entered for close-up stroking, patting and cuddling.
The well-respected Garden Café (which can be visited without paying for farm entrance) offers made-to order dishes at reasonable prices, from indulgent snacks to tasty meals.
Fresh, local produce is used wherever possible. A range of appetising salads are available, and many vegetarian options. We will always try to cater for those with special requirements.No chips.
We promise not to overwhelm you with souvenirs – lots of pocket money items – and cuddly toys of course.
Toilets are never more than 300 yards away. Disabled and baby changing facilities available.
Baby food is sold and we are always happy to warm milk.
Think green! Totnes Rare Breeds has no on-site parking. Public car parks are located in Totnes, with the farm a picturesque 400m walk from the mainline station, over the River Dart: follow brown signs. The walk is also a cycle path, and bikes can be left outside the café. Busses (and trains) stop at the mainline station.
Or travel to us by steam train on the South Devon Railway. Joint tickets available.
- We are fully friendly for buggies and special need visitors.
- Sorry, no dogs in the farm but they are welcome in the garden café area on secure leads.
- Wellies are always fun, but not essential.
- Should the weather turn British, there are plenty of undercover areas.
- Travel to us by steam train on a joint ticket.
- Remember to ask for peanuts to feed the red squirrels.
