The Observatory Science Centre
Observatory Science Centre is the place to visit for all budding scientists! Do you like finding out how things work? Would you like to be a scientist or an astronomer? Do you like exploring hands-on exhibits where you can touch and play? Then you need to visit us.
We have a dedicated team of staff to help you in your voyage of discovery.
We run children?s workshop and science experience days on a variety of topics, where you can spend the day here in a safe environment whilst having fun and learning. Telescope tours included in the admission price for all age groups. You can even visit in the dark and learn about giant sized telescopes and how to use them!
You can enjoy a range of hot and cold refreshments, drinks and snacks in the café® We also sell ice-creams. Indoor/Outdoor picnic areas

Gifts, books, souvenirs and science toys are on sale in our shop which has been moved to a larger area so we can stock a much larger range including telescopes. We have a range of toys suitable for party bags from 15p and a wide range of toys under ?2. (no admittance charge is necessary to just use the shop).

The Observatory Science Centre is in East Sussex, two miles east of Herstmonceux village, on the Boreham Street to Pevensey Road. Look for the sign to 'Herstmonceux Castle and Science Centre' from the A271. The most direct route is now to travel south along the A22 to the new large roundabout just north of Eastbourne. then follow the A22 / A27, eastbound to Pevensey. then follow the sign for Herstmonceux Castle along the Wartling Road for 3 miles. Nearest station is Polegate
Discovery Park availability may be subject to weather conditions. This is an historic site with some uneven paving and a pond, take care! Children should be supervised at all times.
