The National Gallery welcomes children and offer Family Walk and Talk Guided Tours, 3 audio tours and 3 more printed children's trails to really help keep kids entertained! Holidays get pretty special with crafty workshops and playful activities so there's always loads to do at the The National!
Plus of course the collections themselves are thorough and stunning and offer both a relaxing few hours of artistic contemplation or a terrific resource for backing up academic studies and school work.
There are also Magic Carpet Storytelling Sundays are available for families with under 5s, every Sunday 10.30am to 11am and 11.30am to 12 noon in the Pigott Education Centre Foyer.
Places can't be booked but can be allocated up to an hour beforehand at reception.
Drawing and Studio Workshops are also available for 5 to 11 year olds on Sunday sessions and holiday workshops, so keep an eye out for those to add some extra interactive joy to your day!
Older types will of course enjoy the rest of the museum too with it's vast array of varying galleries which change regularly enough to keep return visits pretty fresh and interesting. The art is displayed on a huge array of topics in a vast variety of mediums, so there's something to intrigue the kids and the grown ups alike once they've burned a little creative energy in the kids' zones.

We do strongly suggest you contact The National Gallery before you set off on your family day out, just to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices, as there is nothing worse than disappointed kids in the back of your car after a long journey.
