The National Army Museum
Visit the National Army Museum and find out how Britain’s past has helped to shape our present and our future.
Discover the impact our Army has had on the story of Britain, Europe and the world, and see how the actions of a few can affect the futures of many.
Alongside four galleries exploring the Army’s role from 1066 through to the present day, our Events programme offers a range of changing exhibitions, events and children’s activities to help you and your family enjoy new experiences every time you visit.
To learn is to play in the Kids Zone, an interactive gallery for 0-10s featuring forest, castle, construction, reading, activity and soft play areas. For adults, comfortable seating areas are provided with easy access to café and caffeine!
Our half-term activities and themed family event weekends include art workshops, ‘Meet the Collection’ mini-tours, and the chance to meet soldiers from the past – we use actor-interpreters in the roles of historical characters, bringing history to life and giving you the chance to handle weapons and objects from the past.
Our café, the Great Escape, offers fresh, seasonal food and healthy kids’ meals at value for money prices. Large parties can reserve a table or the lunchroom.
The Great Escape will do its best to ensure all visitors’ needs are catered for – just ask one of the staff for assistance. If you have a very specific dietary requirement, we recommend you phone ahead to check the menu for that day.
Souvenirs, clothes, books, DVDs, CDs, toys, games, collectors items, print and posters, celebrity speaker tickets and exclusive NAM branded products. Our extensive range is now available online.
Our toilet facilities include disabled toilets and baby-changing facilities.
We do not sell baby food, but the café will warm milk on request.
Closest train station is Victoria. From there the 239 bus will drop you right outside the Museum. The closest tube station is Sloane Square. The short walk is signposted from the tube entrance, and buses 11, 19, 22, 211 and 137 stop nearby.
Choose from a Heroes, Icons or Animals trail to follow through the galleries.
Our activity backpacks help children discover and understand our galleries – choose from ‘Spy’ or ‘Art Activity’ backpacks.
