The Inniskillings Museum is one of the 2 museums at Enniskillen Castle, and will tell you the story of the 2 regiments from the town of Enniskillen.
The museum is located in the Castle Keep and the old cavalry stables.
The castle itself, once a medieval stronghold, is fantastic and has an array of 18th and 19th century barrack buildings for the kids to explore. It also has a 17th century Watergate with distinctive twin turrets, and the Heritage Centre of the Fermanagh County Museum to the east. Your admission fee covers both museums, which is pretty good value for money!
There is so much to learn about both regiments since their formation in 1689 to present day, with splendid uniforms to marvel at, and sumptuous silverware from the Officers’ Mess, plus the flags that led soldiers into battle! Follow the Dragoons as they convert from horses to tanks, marvel at the technological wizardry responsible for weapons and armoured vehicles, and see over 600 medals, all of which honor ordinary people who did extraordinary things.
Learn about infantry attacks at St Lucia, heroic cavalry charges, dogged defences at Waterloo and more! Check online for informatino about free admission days.

We do strongly suggest you contact The Inniskillings Museum before you set off on your family day out, just to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices, as there is nothing worse than disappointed kids in the back of your car after a long journey.
