Attraction Information

The Commandery is a beautiful building and garden where you can encounter the past brought to life...

Set in the heart of historic Worcester beside the canal, The Commandery is most famous for being the Royalist Headquarters during the deciding battle of the English Civil War – the Battle of Worcester 1651. It's the perfect place for a family day out – get to know your fearsome weapons, discover historic displays, and become an explorer in the spacious walled gardens. What was life like in the past? Dress up as you explore the medieval, Tudor, Georgian, Stuart, and Victorian times.

Check out family activities in the school holidays and don't miss the exciting living history days too. Encounter reenactors who will take you back to the English Civil War where you can watch military ring displays and take part in pike drills - you can even learn to load a cannon!

Round off your visit at the independent canal-side café on site, Commandery Coee, which serves delicious home-made food, artisan coffee and loose-leaf teas.

Head to the website for opening times and admission information – including discounts for Worcester residents and season passes for families
