The British Wildlife Centre

"what are we doing today?"

The British Wildlife Centre is a peaceful, relaxing place to see and learn about Britain's wonderful native wildlife - from tiny harvest mice to magnificent red deer.

Over forty different animals that live in the wild in Britain are displayed in natural surroundings, including badgers, foxes, otters, wild cats, owls, red deer and many more.

Our aim is to help everyone learn more about how these creatures live and what we can all do to help them survive in the wild. Our popular and informative keeper talks take place every 30 minutes and bring you closer to the wildlife that is all around us but rarely seen.

A number of short films, including much footage taken right here reveal more of the secrets of British wildlife

When we are closed to the public we take bookings from schools and have a series of programmes that complement National Curriculum science units.

We also run private visits for groups and photographic days including access inside some of the enclosures

"i'm hungry"

"are we there yet?"

We on the A22 in Surrey, just north of the Newchapel roundabout - just 15 minutes south of Junction 6 of the M25 and 10 minutes north of East Grinstead. There are no scheduled bus services past our door and the nearest train stations are Lingfield and East Grinstead - from there you'll need a taxi, which will cost about £6

...got any top tips?

Most of the attraction is outside, but there are under cover displays and most of the animals can be seen whatever the weather.

Our Keeper Talks, every 30 minutes from 11am, are a good way to see some of the animals that might otherwise prove elusive.

If you don't see something right away, come back later for another look.

Saturdays tend to be quieter than Sundays.
