About Tewkesbury Town Museum
Tewkesbury Town Museum is a quirky little place, housed in a 17th century half timber building, which adds to the history you will find with its wood panelling and sloping floorboards. There are 3 floors full of displays, but some may find the stairs a bit tricky in this old building.
There is so much to see fro a wonderful metal carnival display on the second floor, a room devoted to the1471 Battle of Tewkesbury and others showing local history througout the ages. Find out what life was like here during Roman times and make sure you take a look at the interesting display about World War I.
Keep an eye out for bricks from the 1600s, ancient floor tiles and a wheelchair from 1906! There are models, including one of Mop Fair, an arrowhead found at Holme hill and a number of other arefacts to see, plus some hands on items to let you really get to grips with history.
This place is mostly run by volunteers who are only too happy to tell you more about the fascinating objects you will see here such as the Roman skeleton and coins that are hundreds of years old.
