Tate Modern
London, Greater LondonAbout Tate Modern
At the iconic yet welcoming Tate Modern, you can explore the permanent collection here for free! And all children under 12 gain free access to the special exhibitions when accompanied by a paying adult, so it's cheaper and easier than ever to get your culture fix and explore the lot!
This summer there is also a giant interactive artwork especially for families to enjoy which we think you’ll go dotty for! – part of the regular Uniqlo Tate Play families programme. This time it’s Yayoi Kusama’s Obliteration Room – your chance to transform a completely white domestic apartment into a sea of colourful dots! This artwork is free for families of all ages and no booking is required. Visitors will be given a sheet of 'colourful ‘dot’ stickers to help bring the space to life! As well as having a chance to cover every available surface in the space with bright circular stickers, families will be able to create their own works of art to add to an ever-growing garden in the Turbine Hall. Come daily from 10:00- 17:30 up until 29th August!
Elsewhere in the building you can get creative with our digital sketchpads at the Drawing Bar on level 1 and see your masterpiece projected onto the wall. The Interactive Zone on the level 4 concourse is also bursting with ideas and activities to help you get to know more about 20th-century art and artists for some mass inspiration. Discover artists that use smell in their work, make sensory sculptures and so many more fascinating activities! As well as taking in the art history timelines on the walls (illustrated
by Sara Fanelli) you can: enjoy a range of hands-on games, watch films relating to the art on display at Tate Modern, explore interactive multimedia experiences and read books about art. All still free! Don’t forget to check out our ongoing Families offer every weekend and during school holidays as part of Uniqlo Tate Play where you can play, create and explore a world of art for free. This includes activities and workshops inspired by the art on display at Tate Modern! Want to be the first to know about events for families at the Tate Modern? Sign up to their newsletter!
