St Bees Beach

St Bees has been awarded an ENCAMS Seaside Award recognising the cleanliness of the area.

There are two main points of access, at the Seacote Hotel, and at Seamill Lane.

The beach is gently sloping and generally free from dangerous currents. However, as always, caution should be exercised when in the water, particularly with off-shore winds. The beach is a magnificent shingle with dozens of varieties of rock sloping down to good red sand, and extends southwards for about a mile or so. The sandy areas are accessible at all times except for 2 or 3 hours on either side of high tide, when only the shingle is clear of the water.

You are permitted to walk dogs on the beach but please clean up after them.

Main Beach car park is the largest area and, as the name implies, is by the main St Bees beach. Parking charges apply - pay at machine. There are two sections, one the municipal car park (nearest the caravan site and properly surfaced) and the other belongs to the Seacote Hotel. The difference is not readily apparent! Charges apply to both.

The main children's playground is to be found by the Main Beach, where a number of adventure style apparatus, as well as the standard swings, slides, etc. are to be found
