Sheppys Cider Farm and Museum offers the chance to learn about the ancient combination of farming with cider making, from the Sheppy family, who have been craftsmen cider makers for over 200 years! 370 acre farm to explore, with farm animals to meet, and interesting museum full of fascinating facts about farming and cider making, plus Farm Shop and Tearooms selling local produce!
The Museum contains many excellent farming and cider making exhibits, plus tools from related crafts, such as thatching, blacksmithing, and coopering. You will start by watching a DVD detailing the cider making process at Sheppy's, then see the Autumn Season exhibit, with seed drills, harrows, ploughs and more, followed by the summer display, where you will see machinery and other implements for grass mowing, plus corn cutting and binding.
There is also a variety of barn machinery and equipment to see, followed by a section about a Dairy and Farm Kitchen. Finally the cider making section! This contains an old wooden cider press, apple mills and presses, and a great deal more.
Visitors are also welcome to explore the farm and walk through the beautiful orchard tracks and extensive farmland. You can see a number of farm animals, and there is a large duck pond with a mixture of domestic and wild ducks, black swans and geese.
