Sandringham
Sandringham House, the Royal Family's country retreat, is perhaps the most famous stately home in Norfolk - and certainly one of the most beautiful. Set in 60 acres of stunning gardens, with a fascinating museum of Royal vehicles and mementoes, the principal ground floor apartments with their charming collections of porcelain, jade, furniture and family portraits are open to the public.
Have a go at the activity book which will help you enjoy your visit and you can colour in the pictures when you get home.
Ask our friendly guides to help you find some of the answers. With so much to see and do, and a warm and friendly welcome whenever you visit, Sandringham is the epitome of English country house life – don't miss it!
Sandringham's Visitor Centre offers 200-seat and 50-seat licensed restaurants offering a wide range of home cooked hot food as well as snacks, sandwiches etc. There is also a kiosk selling snacks and drinks. Near the Museum we have the Stables Tearoom which offers light snacks, sandwiches and drinks.
Salads are available, gluten free food is available upon request and a vegetarian option is always on the menu.
A wide range of gifts is available at our well stocked Gift Shop including puzzles, toys, books and plenty for grown ups too including glassware, jewellery, handbags and lots more!
Lavatories are available at the Visitor Centre and the Stables Tearoom. Baby changing facilities and disabled toilets are also available at these locations.
We offer bottle-warming facilities.
Sandringham is 6 miles north-east of King's Lynn and is signposted from the A149 Hunstanton road and A148 Fakenham road. Local buses stop at the Visitor Centre.
Our team of friendly and knowledgeable guides are on hand to answer your questions and help you get the most out of your visit. Visitors may take photographs in the Museum but not in the House. Prams and pushchairs are permitted inside the House so even the very little ones can enjoy a visit.
Sandringham House, Museum and Gardens are accessible to wheelchair users. Ramps are provided where necessary and a member of staff is always available to lend a helping hand if required.
A free land train is available from just inside the gardens, which can take wheelchairs and those less able to walk distances, over to the House and back.
A small number of wheelchairs are available from the Ice Cream Kiosk for a deposit of £20.00 and the wheelchair pusher is admitted free. An accessibility guide is available giving further information – please contact us or visit our website for a copy.
If you've had fun on your family day out to Sandringham, tell us about it your visit, so other people will know it's a great place to go as well.
