Admission to the gallery is free and free guided tours are available for groups of at least 15 students if booked via the Education Department (free tours are not available for smaller groups) Education Packs and an Activities Booklet for kids are available online for every show and provide a useful guide on key works and themes in exhibitions as well as suggestions on what to do at the gallery. Their work, like the work of the Post-World War II American artists known as Abstract Expressionism, can be described as spontaneous and rebellious. The work is also whole heartedly of our time, influenced by recent events and current issues: the environment and recycling, globalization, digital culture and the Internet.

The Gallery recently opened its new Cafe-Restaurant, The Gallery Mess. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a range of options, from pastas and salads, to burger and chips, as well as impressive specials which change daily. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with fun and modern works of art. Otherwise the out door seating area provides a great place to eat, or just have a drink on a beautiful day.
