Royal Air Force Museum London

"what are we doing today?"

Fuel their imaginations with a visit to the Royal Air Force Museum London!

Why not fuel their imaginations and get the entire family working together exploring the Royal Air Force Museum and the fun side of flight?

Visit the Museum’s newly refurbished Battle of Britain Hall and get up close a personal to aircraft that flew in the Battle itself.

Be amazed by the 5m high statue of Sir Keith Park and take in our free emotive sound and light show 'Our Finest Hour' about 'The Few' which runs daily from 1pm to 5pm in the Hall.

Don't forget to visit the Hall's Mezzanine level, which is currently showing the Battle of Britain Art Exhibition or to visit Winston Churchill as he gives his Battle of Britain Speech to the nation from his office in No.10 Downing Street.

Then leave the Hall by taking a trip through an interactive Sunderland Flying Boat - ideal for fascinating the younger members of the family.

Other areas of interest for younger visitors include the Museum's free 3D cinema, on the top floor of our Milestones of Flight Gallery, plus its 'control tower' viewing Gallery onto the aircraft below and the Museum’s interactive Gallery for children 'Aeronauts' where they can learn about the principles of flight by participating in a series of interactive experiments. They may think that they are playing, but in reality, they will be learning…and as a special treat why not round off your visit with a simulator flight with the Red Arrows? Height restrictions apply.

...got any top tips?

To help you get more out of your museum visit, the museum has created a range of free downloadable trails and quizbooks for its various Halls. To download these trails contact us for web details.

Also as the site is a former airfield, not all the aircraft Halls are next to one another. Therefore, we would suggest that you check the weather forecast before visiting and if the weather looks inclement don’t forget to bring an umbrella.

The museum offers a series of free family events and craft workshops for kids throughout the year. For details contact us directly.
